About the Role

We are a young startup, looking for a passionate candidate who can contribute to our mission to deploy impactful solutions to the most important issue of our generation. Our focus will be on developing climate resilience tools for various sectors, with agriculture as our initial market. We’re looking for a smart, passionate, team-oriented head of software engineering to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to architect, build, and manage the engineering playbook for the company.

This person will lead the charge with strengthening the engineering backbone of ClimateAi’s platform. In brief, our current tech stack is built on google cloud. We use a firebase app for our front end, virtual machines with docker containers for our data science compute, google functions for lightweight scalable computation all written in Python. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail that can help us iterate on our product hypothesis with the customers.

Also, the candidate will be working on shaping the vision of the company with the founders and building a brand around climate sustainability. We hire people who are collaborative, adaptable, communicate well, and love to learn. Expect to give and receive constructive criticism, as we are constantly seeking to push the innovation frontier while simultaneously growing as individuals and as a team. While we are interested in all qualified applicants, the position is well suited for someone with 6-8 years of work experience in software engineering with a wide set of skills.

Role Responsibilities:

  • End to end management of engineering activities across the business.
  • Hire, train and manage a growing team of software engineers.
  • Transitioning into a coach/player role as per the business needs in the ratio of 70:30 .
  • Work directly with the founding team to define the platform roadmap.
  • Establish and deploy best practices for code reviews, automation of QA, and unit tests.
  • Develop and support software including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure the project meets business objectives and compliance standards.
  • Represent ClimateAi within the broader tech community, through events such as panels, conferences, and technical talks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ years in front end/back end engineering with 2+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS environment.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment is a plus.
  • Experience in implementing product partnerships is a plus.
  • BS/MS/PHD in computer science or equivalent field.
  • Most importantly, a passion for working to help address the issue of climate change.
